yesterday was the first day I saw you
for who you really are, for who you've always been
and I cant say that I'm all that surprised
terrified you sat and shook while the world swallowed you whole
yesterday I saw the sky open
and as the floors of heaven gave out, I saw a thousand glowing souls
they didn't say anything they just waited
so I opened up my mouth and asked for them to answer me
what is the colour of blindness
and just how far do you have to fall before you don't feel like falling anymore

yesterday I was married to a holy ghost
yesterday she sang to me till i fell asleep
yesterday I held every inch of the universe in my hand
but I gave it all away, and now I cant remember why
yesterday everything seemed so easy and simple
and meaningless and sad
it was beautiful and bright
yesterday was a different world than it's been today
the sun has already gone down and I'm waiting in the parking lot
musing about the joy and ignorance of a former world
I'm not quite sure if I'm waiting for another day like yesterday
